"More Than A Game"

Lebron James, or Labreezy as I like to call him, may not be my favorite basketball player but his movie, "More Than A Game", was incredible.

When I first heard about Lebron's documentary, I was worried it would be a repeat of Kobe's "Doin Work" which, at least in my opinion, was a huge let down. However, I then saw the trailer and soon became excited, making a mental note to see it in theaters at the first chance I got. Unlike "Doin Work", "More Than A Game" was more than just clips of Lebron with a voiceover. This documentary actually told a story, had a plot, and included other characters. In fact, it seemed to me that the story did not even really revolve around Lebon, but more around Coach Dru and his son. Of course Lebron was obviously who brought in the crowds and who gave the movie as much hype as it received, but I was happy to learn that in the documentary, all focus would not be on the "chosen one", as many helped him become the man he is today.

I am really not one to get emotional easily, and especially not one to cry, but I must admit that "More Than A Game" had me in tears at certain points. Though nothing too dramatic takes place (no need for a spoiler alert, I am keeping my mouth shut), the passion that can be felt coming from each and every character is remarkable, and left me completely speechless. Every practice was more than just a practice. Every shot was more than just a shot. And every game was certainly more than just a game. To these people, and to so many other people out there, basketball is not a sport, but a lifestyle. And I have never seen it translated as well as it was in this documentary.

Whether or not you are a huge basketball fan, and regardless if you think Lebron deserves the nickname "King James", I urge everyone out there to go see this movie at least once. It will change your prespective on basketball, look at Lebron James in a whole new light, and reinstate the drive you once had within yourself towards even your hardest-to-meet goals.
