2010 Playoffs: Round One Day Two Predictions

As day two of the 2010 Playoffs begin, so do another round of thrilling games. I will admit that I am more concerned about the East, primarily due to the fact that I live in Chicago, but also because I find more of their teams worth watching, however, the Playoffs are the Playoffs, and so all games excite me.

First up we have the LA Lakers taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although I think the Lakers are going to take this one, therfore leaving me with not much to say, I must bring forward the fact that Kevin Durant is probably still going to give Kobe and the rest of his crew quite a workout. He has averaged 30.1 points per game this season and has surely become a leader figure for his team.

Next come the Charlotte Bobcats against the Orlando Magic. Before getting into this matchup, (and yes I realize this may bring a lot of haters my way) I just want to congratulate Larry Hughes on making the Playoffs. He deserves much more praise than he gets and I have thought this for a while now, and probably will never stop. However, moving on...the Bobcats have shocked many this season by improving tremendously and though it pains me to say that Tyrus Thomas is a big part of it (since I continue to miss him every day), its true. The combination of him and Gerald Wallace has certainly worked in the Bobcats favor. As for the Magic, having lost last year to the Lakers in the final round last season, they are determined to make their appearance a powerful one. Therefore, although they may not take the Bobcats 4-0, I think they will for sure take the first game, especially as it is at home.

The third game today is the San Antonio Spurs VS. the Dallas Mavs. I know that most people have put their money on the Mavs, as not only do they seem to be more liked in the league but they have had a pretty solid season overall, but I am backing the Spurs. Being the underdogs, I feel as though they are going to work twice as hard, even starting from game one, and I look forward to seeing what Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili (as well as George Hill, my personal favorite on the team), have up their sleeves.

Today's final game consists of the Portland Trailblazers meeting the Phoenix Suns, and although as a team I like the Suns better (who can resist Nashty's footwork?), I'm not totally sure of who to back. Overall I think the Suns will be taking this series but as for right now, on the one hand, the Blazers are missing their key asset Brandon Roy, which I think may hurt them quite a bit, but on the other hand Robin Lopez is also out, giving the Suns a slight disadvantage as well. However, since the game is in Phoenix, and the Suns are simply more stacked, I'm going to go with them.

Yesterday I went 1-3. Will I do better today? Lets see...
