Even though it is only 10:30am, and I am still half asleep, I am excited beyond words. The NBA 2010 Playoffs begin today and it is about to be a crazy ride. I decided instead of going back and editing my earlier post, the one in which I listed my Playoff predictions, as things have changed since then, I will just outline the upcoming games day by day, and then follow up with what actually went down, the day after. So, to get the ball rolling (I love it when I'm clever without meaning to be), lets see what games are on today...
Starting off the 2010 Playoffs are the Cleveland Cavs and the (my) Chicago Bulls. I am very much looking forward to this game because not only am I so proud of the Bulls for making it into the tournament (beating out the Toronto Raptors for the 8th spot) but I love watching the Cavs play, no matter who they are up against. At first look, it may seem as though this particular series will be a blowout, the 8th seed versus the 1st, a struggling team versus one of the best in the league, but not so fast. Its not so black and white. The Bulls have a good record against the Cavs, both this year and in the past, and are full of confidence, coming off two wins (one against the Boston Celtics, which I had the pleasure of being there in person for, and one against the Charlotte Bobcats). Plus, lets not forget. This IS the Playoffs. Surprises are around every corner. Though I think the Cavs will beat the Bulls out overall in this series, I'm going to call a Bulls win for the game today.
Next comes the Milwaukee Bucks against the Atlanta Hawks. Although I have not followed either team too closely this season, I think that this too will be a pretty good game. Brandon Jennings seems more than ready to star in his first ever Playoff appearance and in general the Bucks have really proven themselves this season (FEAR THE DEER). On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks always go hard, and have a handful of talent such as Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith (honestly if I were to name all the talented players on the team, I would be listing the whole roster, so I have to stop somewhere), so what will happen, no one knows. And in my opinion its better that way. Who wants a predictable playoff game? However, for the sake of this blog post, I have to determine a winner, and for this game that winner will be the Bucks.
The third game for today is the Boston Celtics taking on the Miami Heat. I could pretend that I don't have a huge bias against the Celts and that I'm really not sure of who I want to say will win, but since I'm usually a no bs, straight shooter, type of girl, I'm going to avoid all that. Though I do think this will be a good game (whats more entertaining than players putting hard fouls on everyone they see and racking up technicals like its their job?) I want the Celts to go down. Dwyane Wade MUST step it up and lead his team to victory.
And last but not least we have the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz. Now, to be honest, I never found the Jazz to be a fun team to watch. Sure they have some impressive players like Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer, but something about their technique and speed, never drew me in. However, since the Denver Nuggets are my second favorite team in the league (Bulls, Nugs, Cavs, Heat, Magic, if you must know) I will be watching without a doubt, and can't wait to see Carmelo Anthony tear it up. He has drastically improved since last year and although the Jazz should never be overlooked, I think his determination and desire will overpower any of that of a Jazz player. Hands down, I have the Nuggets for this game.
Now since it is the first day of the Playoffs, I really have no idea what is going to happen. Surprises are usually a key part of this championship series, which of course goes hand in hand with upsets, but those are my predictions for today's upcoming games. Bulls, Bucks, Heat, Nugs. Those are not necessarily my predictions for who will win each individual series overall, and are also not necessarily my predictions for game two (as by that point, I will have game one to keep in mind) and so on. I will be taking this one game (and one post) at a time.
Hang on everyone. This is about to get wild.
Playoffs 2010. Here we go.
