Okay. You don't have to tell me twice. I know I've been gone for an unacceptable amount of time, however, I do have valid excuses. Not only was it my birthday week but fall semester (my last semester of undergrad, fingers crossed) then started, coupled with the fact that I have started a new internship and just recently have gotten sick. However, as always, I do apologize its been so long, and hopefully from here on out my schedule will get lighter and I'll be able to keep up with posting.
Luckily though, not much has gone on since I last updated, at least in terms of trades or signings. As far as I know, the biggest debate right now is where Carmelo Anthony will end up, something that as a huge fan, I can't wait to hear the end of. For now though, everything still seems pretty up in the air, as I've heard that he'll end up in New Jersey, Washington, Sacramento, Chicago (um YES PLEASE), Los Angeles (Clippers people, Clippers, lets not get ahead of ourselves), and more. However, its been pretty much confirmed that he wants out of Denver, changing the question from if he will be traded to where he will go.
Another story being circulated is the fact that Jamal Crawford has asked the Atlanta Hawks to trade him if they can't offer him the type of contract he likes, and to do so before the 2010-2011 season. Apparently Crawford wanted an extension with the Hawks last month, but has yet to hear back from them, fueling rumors of his departure. I'm not totally sure as to where he would end up if not Atlanta but as usual, I will keep you all posted.
J.R. Smith is apparently in the talks of a trade as well, as the Denver Nuggets and him have not exactly seen eye to eye over the past few seasons, however, since the news broke out a few days ago, it has been on hold, with no additional information coming to light, at least as far as I'm concerned. However, still on the topic of Smith, or Swish, as I like to call him...he has once again found himself in the middle of a legal situation. Apparently the police have re-opened a case against him, a case which claimed that Smith choked another player during a pickup game about two weeks ago. Some people say this never occurred, that the game just got a little rough, but with new information (on who the other player was as well as additional witnesses willing to speak) now coming out, the police must make sure to re-evaluate the situation. For Smith's sake, especially as he is looking for a new team to call home, I hope this gets dropped quickly. Hes had it rough lately and I happen to like the guy, not only for his nasty 3-point stroke but because of his attitude too. Some people may seem him as a trouble maker but I think hes got spunk.
On a similar note, it seems as though three ballers have been handed out suspensions recently, though all for different violations. Brandon Rush (of the Pacers) has been suspended for five games on a drug-related charge, Kenny Hasbrouck (of the Heat) has been suspended for two games for a DUI, and Tyreke Evans (of the Kings, who I love oh so dearly) has been suspended for one game for a reckless driving incident.
Also on the same page, though I was debating even reporting this as it comes from Mediatakeout, a source which is known to get things wrongs, and to do so quite often, apparently Carmelo Anthony may be in a bit of a bind as apparently he threatened "superhead" Kat Stacks last night over Twitter, after she sent a somewhat inappropriate tweet his way, sending Carmelo's wife, LaLa, into a bit of a rage. According to sources he offered $5,000 to anyone who harms Stacks, even taking a picture of the money, but now his account has been deleted, therefore erasing all the evidence, at least to the public's eye. LaLa and others are claiming Carmelo's account got hacked, and therefore it has been deleted, in hopes of restoring it, but who really knows what the truth is. However, from what I know, Carmelo has always been a pretty smart and level-headed guy, so I'm left to question if he would really do such a thing, if even as a joke. Hopefully this matter will be cleared up soon and Carmelo won't be held accountable for his threats. (On a sidenote though, Kat, stay away from him, for real. He doesn't need to be involved in your messed up, though entertaining, life. Stick to nobody's like Lil Twist, please and thank you).
Moving on from legal matters...Ricky Rubio has been rumored to want to come back (though really, he was never really in it...) to the NBA after one more year in Spain. Whether or not he will be welcomed with open arms, I'm not sure, after he caused a bit of trouble after last year's draft, but it will for sure be interesting to see where he ends up and how he does.
I realize by now this is "old news" but I thought I should mention the fact that Rudy Fernandez has been hit with a $25,000 fine, due to talking out of turn about the fact that he wishes to leave Portland. Not that I've followed his career that closely, or even really have an opinion on the guy, but I never would have taken him for such a drama queen. I wonder how this will all end though. Because for now, this battle seems like it may get ugly...
As far as I'm concerned, thats all the big news. I'm sure, seeing as its been over a week since I've updated, that I missed a few rumors and I may have brushed over a minor trade or deal, but in hopes of getting back on track, I think focusing on the more recent stuff is a good idea. But of course, as always, if you have any news you think I should take about or share with everyone else, please feel free to leave me a comment here, or send me a tweet over Twitter (ChitownHeiress, for anyone who doesn't know). I'm backkkkkkkkkk.
