Carlos Boozer Out For Eight Weeks But Joakim Noah Is Here To Stay

Following in the footsteps of teammate Derrick Rose, who hurt his hand not too long ago by slicing it open with a knife while attempting to cut an apple, Carlos Boozer fractured his hand yesterday when he tripped over a bag in his house. Yes, ironically enough, Boozer injured himself on the one day the Chicago Bulls did not have practice, as the scheduled session was canceled and rescheduled for this morning and this afternoon. However, no matter the irony behind this event, Boozer will have to undergo surgery and is expected to be out for at least eight weeks.

Clearly this isn't the way the Bulls wanted to start off their season, especially after the disappointment of not landing any "top" free agents, but with every piece of bad news, comes some good.

The Chicago Bulls have just reached an agreement with Joakim Noah, granting him a 5 year, $60 million deal. Yes, the big man is here to stay.

Boozer's injury without a doubt puts a damper on the start of the season for the Bulls but at least now they can stop worrying about whether or not Noah will head off to Denver. Nicely done Chicago.

  1. I really disagree with the Bulls' decision to extend Joakim Noah before he would have gone into restricted free-agency after this season. The Bulls ultimately would've saved cap-space if they had just matched the highest offer for Joakim at that time... Also, it would have been ideal for the Bulls to not sign any more big contracts until after the new CBA was made public... but oh well. At least the contract wasn't 15M per-yr. And I was not in-favor of a Deng-Noah for Anthony trade, anyway.
