Haters: Coaches Show No Love For Refs

In the past couple of days, three coaches have already gotten into trouble and have been fined for bad-mouthing refs; refs that are of course replacement refs, as the union has yet to reach an agreement with the NBA.

The trouble first started on Wednesday with Larry Brown, the coach of the Charlotte Bobcats, when he started verbally abusing the refs after a call he was not in agreement with. As if this was not drama enough, he actually ended up ejected, after refusing to leave the court in a timely manner. And both him, as well as the team, got fined $60,000.

Lionel Hollins, the coach of the Memphis Grizzles also got into some trouble on Wednesday after making some comments criticizing the new refs, and was fined $25,000, which though significantly less than Larry Brown, is still a lump sum.

However, this duo turned into a trio when Stan Van Gundy, coach of the Orlando Magic also made some remarks against the refs and will now have to pay the league $35,000.

Are the new refs that bad and causing coaches to lose their cool more than before? Or is the league just being overly protective of them, no longer allowing coaches to say whatever they want when a call does not go their way? Whatever the reason behind this trouble, coaches need to take it down a notch before they end up with empty pockets, or worse, unable to be there for their players when they need them most. Its time to shut this club down and play peacefully. After all, theres no "I" in team.
