Stephon Marbury Out Until Further Notice

As many of you probably know, Stephon Marbury has been losing his way for a few months now. Though he had a decent season with the Celtics, after parting ways with the Knicks on bitter terms, he went off the deep end and started to show the world a different side of him through "Starbury TV", aka his Twitter. Among a handful of less-than-normal activities that he telecasted were eating vaseline, sobbing to fans, screaming about finding Jesus and even getting into a minor car accident. Personally, I could not bear to watch him make a fool of himself for more than a few minutes total, but I have heard from many (as well as read articles on the topic) that what they saw was downright scary and could not believe that someone who used to be a NBA All-Star could let themselves go in such a manner.

As the plot thickens however, Stephon has just recently released a statement stating that he will not be playing basketball during the 2009-2010 season but hopes to be back soon, probably during the 2010-2011 one. He is quoted saying "I'm resting, doing what Michael Jordan did, enjoy life, do things I haven't done in 16 years, keep building my empire..." but as usual further put his foot in his mouth and made a comment about there being no way Lebron would ever join the Knicks, as the coaching is horrible and the team needs to be rebuilt from the bottom up.

What Stephon does with his career is his own problem and it is understandable that there would still be animosity between Stephon and the Knicks but to first of all compare himself to Jordan and then also feel the need to put in his two cents about Lebron's future is beyond ridiculous to me. Stephon may have been good at a certain point, and even respected, but he was never and will never be anywhere near the level of Michael Jordan. And as for Lebron James...as far as I know he has no connection to Stephon Marbury and may not even know what the future holds for himself. But what can you really expect from a guy who eats vaseline and cries on camera for no good reason right? I would never want someone's career to be ruined, especially when deep down they may actually (though in this case it is debatable...) have talent, but this "break" may be the end of the road for Stephon if he does not get it together soon. I am all for taking time off and relaxing, but he may want to consider seeing someone and talking out his issues too, before its too late...
