The Time Has Finally Come...

NBA Preseason is finally here!!! The 119 game long season starts tonight with the Denver Nuggets up against the Utah Jazz, and although no channel is showing this game, at least not in the Chi, my heart is fully with the Nuggets. I know for a fact Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups are more than ready to get back into the swing of things (yes, I follow them on Twitter) and I'm sure the rest of the team is too. If you happen to be somewhere where this game is airing, make sure to watch, because its sure to be a good one. Not only are two teams who made the Playoffs duking it out, and not only is it the first game of this Preseason season, but it will also be the first game in which non-union refs will be calling the shots.

The NBA and the National Basketball Referees Association have been trying to reach an agreement about a new labor contract, therefore leaving the NBA no choice but to bring in backup officials to ref the games. While some are nervous about this change, many think it will be a good way to see what improvements need to be made in the realm of refs and may bring out some hidden truths about past conflicts. I know that I personally have had some serious issues with calls made last season (Rondo not getting kicked out of the game after punching Brad Miller in the mouth for one...) so I'm excited to see what these new officials are made of.

Hell, I'm excited for it all.

Though the Summer League games were entertaining, I'm ready for REAL basketball to come back into my life. And with Preseason finally here, and the regular season just 26 days away...lets just say things are looking up.
