Kicking off All-Star Weekend 2010.

Tomorrow marks the first day of NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas and I couldn't be more excited, especially because as I've mentioned time and time again, I get the great pleasure of being there.

My plane is supposed to leave around 11am tomorrow morning but I must say, due to the crazy snow that Dallas just starting having, I am a little worried that my flight will get delayed, or even worse, canceled. However, I am going to try and stay positive because I can only imagine the type of breakdown I will have if either of the two, especially the second, happen. So if you could all cross your fingers for me, that would be greatly appreciated. If all goes according to plan though I should be in Dallas around 2pm, perhaps a little later depending on the route of the flight and so on, giving me the perfect amount of time to get settled in, to rest, and to get dolled up for the Rookie-Sophomore Game I will be attending Friday night.

Saturday during the day I have no solid plans but as I've never been to Dallas before, snow or not, I plan to do some exploring. I also really want to see "Valentine's Day" as well as perhaps do some shopping, so maybe I will be able to squeeze those two activities in before heading to the Skills Challenge. Since Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose bruised his hip in last night's game against the Orlando Magic, it is not certain whether he will take part in this event, but since he was last year's winner, if he is healthy, he will be trying to keep his title. Of course above all I want him healthy so if he needs to sit out, he needs to sit out, but I really hope he can push through it and participate because as great as it was watching him from my couch last year, I can only imagine the experience in person. Plus I got an awesome shirt made in his honor, specifically for Saturday night, so I would love to be able to wear it :)

As for Sunday, I will probably just be relaxing during the day, as well as sadly doing a whole lot of Shakespeare reading (Othello specifically), but then comes the biggest event of them all, the All-Star game itself, which is bound to be a great one. I am pretty upset that I won't be seeing Allen Iverson play, as I've seen him play in exactly one game this season, and it was on tv, as well as disappointed that Kobe will have to sit out due to injury, but with all the amazing talent selected this year, there are plenty of players left to root for. Of course being from Chicago and loving my Bulls, I am overall rooting for the East (this being said I really hope Derrick can at least play in this game, if not compete in the Skills Challenge), but I am also very excited to see some West players like Melo, Billups and Nash. In general though everyone there is worth seeing and I am so glad this weekend has finally come, a weekend I have been planning and looking forward to since July.

So there it is, the overview of my weekend. I will be returning home to the Chi on Monday afternoon but have no fear, I will be blogging from Dallas after each event, sparing no details, and perhaps even adding some photos. Dallas, I hope you're ready for me, because I've been ready for you for some time now...
